The Institute of Sport Management website has two distinct service areas - one area providing detailed information and membership processing for "Visitors", the other a comprehensive "Members" area providing News, Jobs Market, ISM Forum and information on Continuing Professional Development accessed by a unique membership number and password.

The News page fulfils two functions.

Membership

The Directors are pleased to report membership uptake is steadily increasing across all regions. The ISM Pathways Program, designed for part time and full time sport management students, has received tremendous support at both the faculty and student level. Membership currently consists of the following:

The Institute of Sport Management receives strong support from Sport and Leisure media including Sport Business, Australasian Leisure Management, Blues News (NSW), On Sport Newsletter, AusSport Post and The SportsVine.

ISM Scholarship Update

As part of its commitment to the development of the sport management profession, the Institute of Sport Management (ISM) offers financial support to selected ISM Members and Employers under its Scholarships Scheme. The Institute of Sport Management awards a number of Salary Subsidy Scholarships and an Additional Study Scholarship each year. 

SportBusiness

The Institute of Sport Management has teamed up with SportBusiness Group, the world leaders in the provision of commercial intelligence on the sport industry, to offer members FREE Executive Summaries of their published range of in-depth management reports.  The Executive Summary is designed to provide the reader with an outline of the content and an overview of the key findings of the reports, which are between 100 and 250 pages long and cost between £475 and £975.

The Professionals Section takes a look at our members and directors.  Here you will find interviews and profiles of many ISM members. Representing Our Members

The ISM has a commitment to assisting members in the development of their sport management career. In fact, the ISM has already taken a  lead role in assisting a member negotiate a satisfactory outcome relating to a redundancy payment. The ISM has also provided specific advice to members on a broad range of issues including remuneration levels, content and layout of CV's and directed members to professional development courses.

Continuing Professional Development Accreditation Committee

The ISM has a CPD Accreditation Committee convened by ISM Director, Liz Ellis.  This committee will, in accordance with the guidelines outlined in Professional Development Program, assess higher education courses for ISM accreditation and ensure that professional development conferences and workshops meet the appropriate standard for inclusion in the CPD activity component of ISM membership.

Reach an international audience...

Once approved, courses can be advertised in the Members News and Views thus allowing organisers to reach a national and indeed international audience. So if you are running a professional development activity, forward the details including its objectives and target audience to news@ismhome.com. Once an activity is given the stamp of ISM accreditation we will advertise it on our members pages.

Details of upcoming conferences are included in the ISM Members section.  By attending conferences you are adding valuable CPD hours to your profile.

APM Training Institute

Take a look at the courses on offer at APM Training Institute at their website - www.apmtraining.com.au or take a look at the product links at the ISM Members pages. These courses are approved by the Institute of Sport Management and since 2001 all students enrolled at APM in the Diploma in Event Management & Marketing and Diploma in Marketing (Sports) have joined the Institute of Sport Management's Pathways Program.  All ISM Members receive a discount on Tuition Fees.

Information resources at your finger-tips

While some would argue that the internet is making libraries obsolete, most libraries, particularly at state and national level, have been quick to adapt to the change and opportunities provided by the world wide web. If anything the internet has allowed libraries to extend their services and reach national and even international audiences.
